How to Have the Best Day Out in Wolverhampton
Want to know what to do for the best day out in Wolverhampton? Local expert Samantha gives us the inside scoop on how to have the best Wolverhampton day trip from breakfast to dinner…
Originally a market town specialising in the wool trade, the city of Wolverhampton has a population of over 200,000 people, with an area of 69.44km2.
Wolverhampton is known for being a creative city, with a rich history of artists and sculptors who came to practice their trade. It’s a great place for shopping, with plenty of independent and boutique shops lining the streets. It’s also an excellent place for wining an dining – both in the chain restaurants, and the more unique offerings in the city.
Breakfast in Wolverhampton
Let’s start with the most important meal of the day, breakfast. Wolverhampton has tons of places for you to grab a tasty, inexpensive, full English breakfast. And with the list of things to see and do here, you’ll need a big breakfast to keep you going. Here are my favourites…
Glutton’s for Nourishment
A boutique café situated in the heart of Tettenhall Village, Gluttons for Nourishment is well known for its famous afternoon tea and homemade food and cakes.
Gluttons for Nourishment is a great spot if you have a few different palates to satisfy. As well as traditional Full English offerings, you can also opt for the buttermilk pancakes, the eggs Benedict, or my favourite, the buttermilk pancakes with strawberries and bacon. Lovely little place that also serves a great afternoon tea, and these fantastic milkshakes too.
Perfect for any occasion they also have a wide selection of deep-filled finger sandwiches, homemade hot and cold savouries, home-baked cakes and a pot of English breakfast tea or filter coffee.
Ghale’s Coffee Lounge
Previously called Latuskes, Ghale’s Coffee Lounge is an independent café situated in the heart of Wolverhampton. Offering delicious full English breakfasts, vegetarian and vegan options, and their famous eggs done five ways, Ghale’s is a popular breakfast favourite in the city. They also do great cakes!
Biscotto Café
A cosy little tearoom in the heart of Wolverhampton, Biscotto Café sells handmade cakes, crepes and savouries. Their wide selection of toasties, salads and sandwiches make it a popular snack spot for tourists, but what they’re best known for, is their pancakes. From Banoffee to frozen berries, ham and cheese to bacon and maple, Nutella to Kit-Kat, Biscotto Café has an excellent selection.
The Moon Under Water
Just a two minute walk from the train station, The Moon Under Water is one of the most popular places to eat in Wolverhampton. It’s a Wetherspoons but you can grab a full English and a coffee for less than a fiver, or mix it up with their tasty choice of breakfast muffins. The Moon Under Water aims to deliver customers’ food in less than ten minutes, so it’s the perfect place to grab a quick (really quick) breakfast before you start exploring the city.
Bottomless Brunch in Wolverhampton
Bottomless brunches are so popular now, and it’s easy to see why. A meal and as many drinks as you can drink in two hours? Yes please! Wolverhampton has some of the best bottomless brunches in the West Midlands.

Their bottomless brunch offers one of their famous gourmet burgers and unlimited Pornstar Martinis, Classic Mojitos, Proseccos or Club Tropicanas. For only £33 each, you can’t go wrong!
The Slug and Lettuce
Indulge in selected brunch dishes such as a full English breakfast or Slug and Lettuce’s famous ‘Pornstar Pancakes’ (five American style pancakes, topped with a Prosecco, mango vodka and passionfruit compote). Or spend a little more to upgrade your meal to any of their lunchtime menu items such as a halloumi and avocado sandwich or BBQ rump steak. You can enjoy unlimited glasses of Prosecco, Mimosas, Aperol Spritz, Bloody Marys, Amstel, Virgin Marys or a selection of soft drinks for two hours. You can also choose to upgrade further and enjoy unlimited Pornstar Martinis for two hours.
